My therapeutic approach to therapy motivated by the needs of the client. I use a variety of modalities, including: Narrative therapy, which seeks to be a respectful approach to counselling, and community work which centres on people as the experts in their own lives. It views problems as seperate from people and assumes people have many skills , competencies, beliefs, values, commitments, and abilities that will assist them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives; Solution Focued Therapy, which is a collaborative, goal-oriented approach that helps clients build solutions rather than anayzing past problems. It assumes that one already possesses the inner resources to change and focuses on small, actionable steps to achieve a desired future in as few sessions as possible; CBT(Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), a thought filled method of looking at issues. I am trained in Trauma Informed Therapy, to assist clients who have had a difficult and traumatic past. I also use and created HEART (Horse Encounter Action Reaction Therapy, as I believe that using horses as a therapuetic tool brings a fresh approach to therapy. Research as shown that "horses used as therapuetic tools, are highly effective due to their acute sensitivity to human emotion and non-verbal body language."
