Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 19 years and have worked with a variety of populations in diverse settings including the child welfare, hospitals, criminal justice, intensive outpatient, group psychotherapy practice and school settings providing mental health services to both children/adolescents and adults. I completed my Masters at the University of Chicago although I am born and raised in Houston. I am skilled at treating a variety of presenting challenges from adjustment disorders to life changes to severe and persistent mental illness. Much of my current work is helping children and adults manage anxiety, depression and relationship challenges.

My approach to therapy

I believe that psychotherapy is helpful to most everyone some time during their lives. There are seasons of life that we all go through which are difficult and challenging. A therapist is someone you can be honest without the worry of how what you say, think or feel will make them feel. A therapist is someone who will not judge you but rather be a part of your team to help you move closer to becoming your authentic and optimal self. I believe therapy is most productive and effective when the client and therapist are clear in what your goals are and are able to work collaboratively to help you reach those goals.

What you can expect from me

If you are a client working with me you can expect a nonjudgmental and caring approach to learning about you and helping you on your own journey of self discovery. I offer therapy time to process your life experiences in a safe environment in addition to learning about the foundational building blocks/skills to build self awareness, emotional regulation and strategies to navigate and interact with the world in a way to increase happiness and overall health and well-being. Practicing the skills we learn in session are an essential part of making progress towards your therapy goals so "homework" is something you can expect from time to time in our work together.
