Great to meet you!

Despite our best intentions, life can throw us some pretty strong curveballs. I help individuals through some of life’s most challenging times. The emotions that accompany these experiences can be overwhelming, and I offer guidance through these difficult moments and help you work through the aftermath. I'm a former bereavement specialist with Hospice, and I bring both professional and personal experience to my work. I specialize in end-of-life and caregiver issues, as well as other challenges that arise with navigating major life transitions.

On a personal level, I’m a mother of four, including two adopted children. I'm also the daughter of veterans and the wife of a veteran, and a longtime supporter of veteran causes. Before becoming a clinical social worker, I was a teacher, which deepened my understanding of the challenges facing families today. I bring that experience into my relationships with adolescents. I believe that having someone in your corner can make all the difference. I’m here to offer new perspectives and practical approaches, and especially, to listen.

My office hours are 8 am to 1:45 pm T-F, and 8 am to 12:45 on Mondays. I also offer some evening appointments. Please contact me for more information.

My approach to therapy

I tailor each session to meet the needs of my clients. I begin our relationship with a bio-psycho-social-spiritual assessment, which basically means I'm going to ask you questions about you - physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually. It is all intertwined, creating a unique picture of you. I'll actively listen and work with you to identify the most pressing issues that you would like to focus on, or what's causing you the most discomfort. For many clients, I incorporate psycho-education to help them better understand both the mental and physical changes they may be experiencing. In my Telehealth sessions, I often use visuals to share ideas. If you are open to it, we may set goals to work on between sessions. If you are experiencing a challenging relationship, I may use role-playing to model healthy interactions, allowing us to practice different wording strategies. Throughout our work, I encourage reframing issues, exploring alternative perspectives, and, when necessary, challenging negative beliefs or messages that you may not even be aware of. My goal is to partner with you, the client, in finding solutions to life’s challenges that work for you. And I want you to feel more in control of your journey.

What you can expect from me

I hope that clients leave our sessions feeling heard, more empowered, and knowing they have someone in their corner. Hopefully, they also have some new tools for their mental toolbox. I aim to create a safe, nurturing space where they can share their most difficult struggles and know they are not being judged. I want my clients to walk away from our meetings with new insights and practical ideas that can make their challenges feel more manageable.
