Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a doctorate in counseling and extensive experience as a clinical director, consultant, and adjunct professor. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals, schools, and communities across the United States and Canada, helping foster growth, connection, and resilience. I also co-authored the book A Connected School.

One unique aspect of my work has been counseling and consulting in the Canadian Arctic for more than 25 years, where I traveled monthly to support communities in the region. This opportunity began after working with renowned psychiatrist William Glasser, whose influence continues to shape my approach to helping others.

My approach to therapy

I use thoughtful questions and attentive listening to understand the needs and strengths underlying each identified challenge. Through timely inquiry and an open-minded approach, I foster a strong therapeutic relationship that empowers clients to discover their own path forward.

What you can expect from me

I want clients to feel comfortable talking with me and to leave the first session with a sense that I truly understand them — or am beginning to understand them in a meaningful way. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where they feel heard, respected, and safe exploring their concerns. During our first session, they can expect thoughtful conversation, attentive listening, and questions designed to better understand their experiences, strengths, and goals. Together, we begin building a quality connection that helps them gain insight, develop confidence, and move toward meaningful change at their own pace.
