Hi! My name is Jeffrey Proctor and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. My specialties are first ADHD. What I help with in terms of ADHD is helping learn how to manage your emotions, and helping life feeling less overwhelming. My second specialization is people who have lived in countries outside of their parent’s passport countries called Third Culture Kids.With this specialty, I help with identity, communicating with other family members, and helping you feel understood.
Firstly, my approach is very genuine. I come to you pretty much the same that I approach everyone in my life. It is ok if it takes time to trust me but if we are not both being are genuine selves in therapy, then therapy may not work out. I also work from an attachment perspective which means that I help you connect with your emotions and help explore the way you connect with others. Connecting with your emotions is very important to me even if you are not an emotional person.
If you decide to have me as your counselor, you can expect someone who is going to be themselves and let you be yourself. You can expect that I will if appropriate, help you to be aware of and connect with your emotions. You can also expect coping skills to help you physically feel more relaxed.
