Great to meet you!

I bring a diverse clinical and military background to my work as a therapist. I earned my undergraduate degree in Alcohol and Drug Studies and began my career as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor with the Minnesota Department of Corrections, where I spent three years providing treatment to individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns.

After completeing my MSW, I spent two years working as an inpatient trauma therapist, providing intensive treatment to individuals recovering from military trauma, childhood trauma, and sexual trauma.

In addition to my civilian experience, I have over a decade of military service. I began my career as a medic, later commissioned as a Medical Operations Officer, and currently serve as a Behavioral Health Officer supporting service members and their families.

Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals experiencing a wide range of concerns. While I work wiht many presenting concerns, my primary area of focus is trauma. I am a Certified Prolonged Exposure Therapist and tilize evidenced based approaches tailored to each client's unique needs and goals.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, direct, and genuine. I believe in creating a supportive environment where you feel comfortable being yourself while also being challenged to grow. I'm straightforward in my feedback because meaningful change often requires honest conversations, but I always approach those conversations with compassion, respect, and empathy. I also believe that humor has an important place in therapy when appropriate. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported while we work together to develop practical skills, process difficult experiences and make lasting changes that align with your values and goals.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. We'll complete a comprehensive assessment to better understand your concerns, personal history, strengths, and what has brought you to therapy. Together, we'll identify your goals, discuss what you hope to achieve, and develop an individualized treatment plan with a realistic timeline. You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions and ensure we are a good fit to work together. My goal is to make sure you have a clear understanding of the path forward and confidence it will help you achieve meaningful, lasting change.
