Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome. My name is Jennie Harvat, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. My professional background includes work in community mental health, substance use treatment, state psychiatric care, and telehealth services with adults, adolescents, veterans, and military families.

Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals navigating a wide range of life challenges and emotional struggles, and I deeply value creating a space where people feel comfortable being fully themselves. I understand that reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and I strive to provide an environment that feels welcoming, supportive, and genuine.

I believe connection matters in therapy, and I bring both professionalism and authenticity into the work I do. My goal is to help clients feel heard, respected, and supported as they move through difficult seasons of life and toward greater clarity, healing, and balance.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in authenticity. I believe meaningful healing happens when clients feel emotionally safe, genuinely heard, and free to show up without judgment or pressure to “have it all together.”

I work from a person-centered and strengths-based perspective while integrating evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, psychodynamic exploration, emotional processing, and solution-focused interventions. I tailor therapy to each individual client rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, because every person’s experiences, needs, and goals are different.

I often work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, relationship difficulties, self-worth issues, grief, emotional overwhelm, and complex family dynamics. Many of my clients are high-functioning individuals who are used to taking care of others while neglecting themselves in the process. Together, we focus on increasing self-awareness, identifying unhealthy patterns, improving emotional regulation, building boundaries, and creating sustainable change outside of the therapy room.

My style is compassionate and supportive, but also honest and direct when needed. I believe therapy is not only about processing pain, but also about helping clients reconnect with who they are beneath survival mode and move toward a life that feels more balanced, intentional, and fulfilling.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect the first session to be a welcoming, judgment-free space focused on building comfort, trust, and connection. I understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially for individuals who may have difficulty opening up or trusting others, so I approach the process with patience, authenticity, and compassion.

During the first session, we will spend time discussing what brings you to therapy, your current stressors or concerns, relevant background information, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process. There is no pressure to share everything at once. My goal is to create an environment where you feel emotionally safe, heard, and respected at your own pace.

Clients often describe me as genuine, approachable, and easy to talk to, and I place a strong emphasis on developing a meaningful therapeutic relationship built on trust and rapport. I believe one of the most important parts of therapy is feeling connected to your therapist and knowing you do not have to navigate difficult experiences alone.

Together, we will begin identifying goals, exploring patterns, and creating a path forward that feels realistic, supportive, and tailored to your individual needs.
