Great to meet you!

Professional counseling services focused on cultivating goodness and growth in your mental health journey. Facilitated with compassion and care by psychotherapist Jenny Abild (LPC). Serving you in southeastern Wisconsin and virtually throughout Wisconsin. I'm glad you're here.

My approach to therapy

Honest, honor, and humility in your relationship with self, others, and God - these are the overall focuses of my approach to therapy with you. Clinical counseling services provide to you are evidence-based and trauma-informed. Services are also culturally-humble and utilize creative experiential approaches (such as music and arts, visuals and analogies, hands-on activities and exercises, etc.). I specialize in working with adults addressing depression, anxiety, OCD and ADHD tendencies, addictive behaviors, trauma (including sexual trauma and domestic violence), grief and loss, safety concerns, complex family dynamics, relational challenges, and interpersonal effectiveness. Additional areas of focus include fostering forgiveness, self-compassion, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and healthy spirituality. [I utilize an eclectic therapeutic approach - including (but not limited to) EFIT, CBT, Dialectical-informed, ACT, Motivational, and Solutions-Focused techniques and strategies. I tailer my approach to you. Integration of psychological approaches with Christian faith values are offered and welcomed here, following each client’s unique approach and interest in integration].

What you can expect from me

As we engage in an initial consultation and assessment, we’ll together develop a personalized treatment/growth plan for you. Then we will typically meet for 45-60 minute sessions, engaging in approaches and strategies focused on your growth plan.

In your first session with me, we will gently learn about and validate the storms that have happened in your life and the real impacts of them. We will also gently highlight how radical hope, growth, and goodness can still be available to you. We will see how growth and goodness for you can be tenderly held, pursued, and grown - amidst your grief, pain, and loss. By the end of your first session, we will develop initial treatment goals (a growth plan) - honoring and seeing the dualities described here.
