Great to meet you!

Jen is a compassionate and skilled therapist with over 20 years of experience in the fields of counseling and Art Therapy. Holding a Master’s degree in Art Therapy & Marriage and Family Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University, she has dedicated her career to helping individuals, teens, women, and parents navigate life’s challenges with creativity, emotional clarity, and faith.

Jen’s private practice, Learning To See Studio, focuses on empowering clients to better understand themselves and their emotions through the healing power of art. She works with individuals dealing with anxiety, grief, depression, relationship struggles, and personal development, offering a unique approach that blends therapeutic techniques with creative expression and spiritual insight.

Having traveled globally to share the transformative benefits of Art Therapy, Jen’s approach is rooted in the belief that art can help us see ourselves more clearly and connect with the world around us. In addition to her clinical work, Jen is the author of several books and is deeply committed to helping others unlock their potential through their inner creativity and faith.

With a warm, empathetic, and faith-driven approach, Jen is passionate about guiding clients to emotional healing and personal growth, helping them build healthier relationships with themselves, others, and their spirituality.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Jen’s approach to therapy is deeply rooted in both her therapeutic training and creative process. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-Certified Art Therapist, she uses art as a therapeutic tool to help individuals access emotions and insights that might be difficult to express through words alone. Art Therapy brings an element of relaxation and fun to the counseling room and can be especially powerful for those who find traditional talk therapy challenging, such as those dealing with trauma, grief, or other emotional barriers.

What stands out about her work is the integration of faith. Many people find that their spirituality is a key part of their healing and self-discovery. Jen seamlessly incorporates this into her practice in a way that encourages clients and takes their healing transformation to new levels.

What you can expect from our first session

Clients can expect a welcoming and compassionate environment where they can feel safe, seen, and heard.

Right from the beginning, Jen is focused on building trust so that you'll feel comfortable sharing your concerns, and expressing yourself freely through words and creativity. In the first session, Jen will take time to learn about your history, current struggles, and goals for therapy. She’s interested in understanding not only your emotional needs but also your creative interests and spiritual beliefs. Expect an open dialogue where she actively listens and asks thoughtful questions to gain insight into your life and experiences.

At the end of the each session, Jen will likely offer some suggestions (a.k.a. mini challenges) for you to do at home. These can range from self-care activities to journaling processes and questions to ponder. They are based on the conversation just completed and designed specifically for you to help you take the next step in your journey toward the goals you identified (i.e. emotional regulation, improving relationships, or personal growth, etc.).

Overall, clients can expect the first meeting to feel like a gentle introduction to the therapeutic journey, with an emphasis on collaboration, creativity, and emotional safety.

Many clients have expressed a sense of relief and a renewed sense of hope for the future after their first meeting!
