Great to meet you!

Hi! I’m Jennifer Barrios, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California with a master’s degree from USC and nearly a decade of experience in mental health. My journey began in community mental health, where I provided support to individuals and families facing complex challenges. Now, I’ve transitioned into full-time private practice, where I continue my passion for helping others heal and grow.

I believe therapy should be a place where you feel totally seen and heard while working through life’s ups and downs. Whether you're dealing with anxiety (like constant worry or panic attacks), feeling stuck, struggling with self-esteem, working through past trauma, or facing depression (like feeling low energy or withdrawing from others), I’m here to help you reconnect with the real you. My approach is super chill and personalized because I know healing looks different for everyone.

My approach to therapy

I maintain a trauma-informed lens, recognizing the impact of past experiences on present challenges while fostering resilience and healing. In my work, I also integrate strategies from narrative therapy to help clients reframe their personal stories, emotion-focused techniques to deepen self-awareness and emotional regulation, and boundary-setting/assertiveness training to empower clients in their relationships and daily lives.

What you can expect from me

I aim to create a laid-back, supportive space where clients can just be themselves. Building a solid connection with my clients is hands down my favorite part of therapy. I keep it real with relatability, humor, and a down-to-earth vibe. It’s like talking to your homegirl—someone who listens, has your back, and helps you figure things out in a safe, no-judgment zone :)

Fun fact: I have a dog and a cat, and Luna might just make an appearance during our sessions to add some extra love and good vibes!
