Great to meet you!

I got into the counseling field over 10 years ago because I wanted to help people. I have been blessed with opportunities to help a variety of people including kids and teens who have experienced trauma, families experiencing homelessness, and university students searching for their future path. In my current full-time job, I treat trauma in kids and teens and help their parents to develop healthy relationships with their children.

My approach to therapy

I view my role as a counselor as a guide, with you as the expert. I use a variety of models to help you to find a sense of purpose and balance. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) which help clients heal from traumatic experiences. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which I use to help clients develop coping skills to manage difficult emotions and stress, as well as work toward their goals. I help parents using Trust-based Relational Intervention, Positive Discipline, and Collaborative and Proactive Solutions to develop healthy attachments and decrease family conflicts.

What you can expect from me

I will use a variety of assessments to help us develop a picture of your struggles and goals and use these throughout therapy to check in and help you see the progress you're making. Depending on your needs, there may be some structure set out for sessions, but there is also flexibility for the sessions to go with what comes up for you when we meet. I bring warmth and compassion to every client's situation. I would love to help you meet your goals and give you the skills to make your dreams a reality.
