Great to meet you!

I gained a masters degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University and a doctoral degree in Counselor Education & Supervision with a minor in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I have provided counseling services to clients since 2008 and have experience with a wide range of mental health and behavioral disorders in a variety of treatment settings to include crisis stabilization units, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, inpatient substance abuse treatment centers, outpatient community mental health, and both inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment in correctional settings. As such, I have gained extensive experience working with individuals with complex issues.

My approach to therapy

Many of my clients have previously participated in talk therapy with other providers but have not experienced the desired progress or are seeking to explore the underlying causes of their behaviors. I offer a more intensive therapeutic approach, utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as my primary modality. Research indicates that clients engaged in EMDR therapy may achieve symptom reduction more rapidly and with more sustainable outcomes. However, the overall effectiveness is influenced by individual factors, specific circumstances, and the nature of the trauma.

What you can expect from me

Early sessions focus on developing a comprehensive understanding of the client’s needs, while creating a safe and supportive environment for processing challenging experiences. The primary goal is to reduce symptoms and promote well-being. Therefore, my approach to treatment is outcome-driven, reflecting my understanding that most clients seek meaningful relief. While sessions may be challenging, I often incorporate humor and creativity to facilitate progress. I take great satisfaction in observing clients achieve meaningful progress in therapy and experience a renewed sense of purpose and well-being.
