I have been practicing as a Psych NP for about 4 years. I am a med provider with experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner as well. I enjoy providing therapy and helping people. I am a mother, grandmother, and widow. I love to read and travel. I have moved a lot and am open minded to all kinds of things. I sing, craft, and am a spiritual person.
I believe in looking at the whole person, family, and environment to discover how to help a person. I do believe that our past can affect our present, but it does not define us. I believe in starting low and going slow with medications. I am not a proponent of polypharmacy (a medication to treat every ailment and then some to treat their side effects). We treat with the fewest medications at the lowest effective dosage for the best quality of life!
My goals are for us to work as a team toward mental wellness! Some people need medication to function just like glasses, blood pressure pills, or insulin. Other people only need medication for mental health for a time. I will evaluate and re-evaluate often to determine continuing need for medication and therapy. You will always be aware of the plan as you are part of your care team!
