Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Jen and I focused on sociology and psychology in college and investigated becoming a social worker early on. My creative side pulled me into my first career as an assistant director of feature films. I went back to school for forensic psychology, as I have always been interested in the cross-section between criminal justice and psychology from the viewpoints of victims and perpetrators. After practicing with a wide array of populations, I recognized that my strengths and interests lay in individual counseling where I feel I can make the greatest impact. Making a positive impact on an individual’s quality of life and being of use to others is highly satisfying and fills me with purpose. I have completed training in CBT and DBT, which I find provide concrete additions to my toolkit of coping mechanisms.

My approach to therapy

My style is open and free form, taken from a psychodynamic approach which emphasizes unconscious processes and unresolved past conflicts as influences on behavior. In addition to my clinical skills, I have a warm and open disposition that puts people at ease in order to build a rapport. Areas of speciality include but are not limited to: Addiction and substance misuse

  • Anxiety and panic disorders
  • Depression
  • Personal growth and self-esteem
  • Personality disorders

What you can expect from me

The environment I set is safe and confidential in order to facilitate self-exploration. Through the therapeutic process you and I would collaborate on treatment plan goals to eventually achieve short-term objectives in order to get to those longer term goals. However, you should be feel initial relief from consistently engaging in self exploration during those first 1-3 months.
