Great to meet you!

As a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of clinical experience, I bring something distinctive to mental health care: a research-informed approach grounded in real-world compassion. My background as a Sub-Investigator in psychiatric trials keeps me current with the latest treatment innovations, while my Master's from Western University of Health Sciences and ongoing Doctoral studies ensure I'm always expanding my expertise.

I specialize in the conditions that require specialized understanding: ADHD, autism, complex patients, OCD, personality disorders, PTSD/trauma, schizophrenia/psychosis disorders, and substance use disorders, alongside comprehensive treatment for depression, anxiety, panic, mood disorders, and bipolar disorder. What excites me about this work is that every client teaches me something new about resilience and recovery.

My clinical experience spans diverse settings, from outpatient care to cutting-edge research, giving me a unique perspective on evidence-based treatment. I combine thorough psychiatric evaluations using DSM-5 criteria with personalized medication management, always staying current with the latest advances in psychiatric care.

What I want you to know is this: your mental health journey matters to me both professionally and personally. I'm committed to providing care that's not just clinically excellent, but deeply respectful of your individual experience and goals.

My approach to therapy

My approach revolves around treating you as a whole person, not simply a grouping of symptoms. I unite clinical skill with heartfelt empathy and deep regard for your individual journey. From our very first conversation, I want you feeling valued, genuinely recognized, and worthy of attentive support.

I invest time in truly hearing your story, what brought you here, what challenges you are working through, and which goals carry the most weight for you. I am interested not only in your symptoms but in your strengths, relationships, and what lends your life real meaning.

In medication management, I practice shared decision-making. I offer professional recommendations grounded in current evidence while sincerely respecting your viewpoint and concerns. I will outline treatment options with transparency, examine benefits and potential risks, and help you make choices that align with your values. I am straightforward about what medications can realistically achieve, setting honest expectations around timelines and outcomes.

I understand that identifying the right psychiatric medication often demands patience and thoughtful adjustment. I am committed to monitoring your progress closely, checking in with you regularly, and remaining flexible in modifying our direction based on your feedback. When something is not producing results, we will problem-solve together and explore alternatives. Your experience of treatment matters profoundly to me, and I will never dismiss what you share about how you are feeling.

I embrace holistic care that addresses every dimension of your well-being. I remain available between appointments, coordinate with your other providers when beneficial, and celebrate your victories while standing beside you through harder stretches. You deserve compassionate, skilled care, and providing it is a genuine privilege I carry into every chapter of our partnership.

What you can expect from me

During your first appointment, you can expect to feel welcomed and genuinely heard. I recognize that discussing mental health challenges can feel intimidating, and I will work to establish a comfortable atmosphere from the very beginning.

We will start with your experience—what has been going on, how you have been coping, and what led you to seek help now. I will ask detailed questions about your symptoms, when they arise, what makes them better or worse, and how they are influencing your relationships, work, daily routine, and overall quality of life. No detail is too minor, because every piece of information deepens my understanding of your experience and allows me to deliver care that is truly personalized.

We will go over your psychiatric history, including previous diagnoses, treatment experiences, medications, and any hospitalizations or crisis events. I will also ask about your physical health, current prescriptions, and family psychiatric background, as these factors play a meaningful role in shaping treatment decisions.

When it comes to medication management, I prioritize education and partnership. I will describe options in straightforward language—how they work, which symptoms they address, anticipated results, and potential side effects. I believe in informed consent, making sure you have everything you need to feel assured in your choices. We will address any concerns with honesty and compassion, including worries about dependency, shifts in your sense of self, or long-term effects.

We will also explore non-medication strategies that promote healing—physical activity, sleep habits, stress reduction, and nurturing relationships. By our session's end, you will have a personalized treatment plan that respects your values and goals. Every person who walks through my door carries their own story, and I am devoted to honoring yours with the care and attention it deserves.
