Great to meet you!

I am an individual therapist who works with adults (18 and over) and believes in the definition of recovery as “a process of change through which people improve their health and wellness, live self-directed lives, and strive to reach their full potential”. -SAMHSA.gov

I am well versed in issues associated with Adult Children of Alcoholics/Dysfunctional Families (ACOA), codependency, family of origin, grief & loss, chronic illness, career development, identity crises and significant life transitions.

I specialize in early and long-term recovery from substance use, co-occurring disorders, mood disorders and anxiety.

I also offer counseling to family members whose loved ones are struggling with substance use and/or a mental health condition.

I am a professional counselor licensed in Pennsylvania. I earned a master's degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Chestnut Hill College. I spent my internship and the first 6 years in the field working in drug and alcohol facilities, including methadone. I am trained in co-occurring disorders (substance use and mental health) and trauma.

My approach to therapy

My approach is trauma-informed and strength-based utilizing psychodynamic, stages of change and 12 step principles. I incorporate mindfulness, DBT and other coping skills where indicated.

I gather commitments from you at the end of each session, things that we agree you will work on for next session or over the course of your treatment. I will assign "homework" if that is what works for you. I provide resources and information relevant to the topics of the session if you wish to receive them. I tailor all of these things to your style of learning and preferences.

I believe in the power of psychoeducation and advocacy for my clients, their families and the community. I believe in the importance of being a part of the recovery community and advocating for those suffering from the disease and their family members.

What you can expect from me

My initial goal is for you to get a sense of my style and create a safe space.

Second, I conduct an intake where I collect information about why you are interested in therapy now, your history and what you are looking to get out of our time together.
