I am a licensed clinical social worker with 5 years postgraduate training in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Graduated from Hunter College School of Social Work in 1991, The Postgraduate Center for Mental Health in 1996. During my 26 years in private practice, I served on the faculty of PCMH, graduated from their Supervisory Training Program and acted as co-ordinator of the Creative and Performing Artists Unit. My sub-specialty is working with creative and performing artists.
My psychodynamic approach to treatment is based on the idea that once we are consciously aware of our unconscious behavior we have a greater capacity to self-regulate and self-soothe and subsequently make better and/or different choices in our lives. Being aware of our needs and being able to articulate them without fear of abandonment or retaliation is the cornerstone of maturity and the bedrock of a healthy relationship.
By listening empathically yet responsively, my clients experience an improved ability to maintain a connected and authentic sense of self. This improves their ability to establish meaningful relationships and further their career goals.
