Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Jennifer, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for helping adolescents (ages 16+) and adults navigate life's challenges. I earned my degree from Aurora University and have specialized experience in mental health and substance use treatment.

Throughout my career, I have worked in Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) settings, supporting individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, suicidal ideation, self-injurious behaviors, substance use, personality disorders, and major life transitions. I have also facilitated groups for adolescents, helping them develop healthy coping skills to address school refusal, low motivation, anxiety, depression, and substance use.

I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when life feels complicated or you're struggling to see a way forward. My goal is to provide a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, supported, and empowered. I believe every person has strengths to build upon, and I am committed to helping you discover yours while working toward meaningful and lasting change.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each person's unique needs. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing, so I take a person-centered approach and meet clients where they are. Together, we'll identify your goals, process emotional challenges, recognize patterns that may no longer be serving you, and build practical tools to help you move forward.

My work focuses on helping clients develop healthier coping skills, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, improve relationships, increase self-awareness, and build confidence in navigating life's ups and downs. I believe that while life is unpredictable and imperfect, we can learn to respond to those challenges in healthier ways and create meaningful change.

I utilize evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy, adapting each approach to best support your individual goals and circumstances.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, your personal history, and what you hope to achieve. I'll also answer any questions you have about the therapy process so you can feel comfortable moving forward.

There is no expectation that you share everything during our first meeting. We will move at a pace that feels right for you. My priority is creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can openly share your experiences without fear of criticism.

By the end of our first session, we'll begin identifying goals and discuss a plan for how we can work together. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, understood, and confident that you have a partner to support you throughout your healing journey.
