Great to meet you!
In 2004 I decided to be more than my circumstances, which started my journey to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. I began college as a non-traditional college student - meaning older and with kids - I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of North Dakota. While attending college, I worked with persons with developmental disabilities, which encouraged my creative side and broadened my understanding of communication. Since graduating, our family has moved 8 times across 5 states with a total of 4,400 miles between them all. I mention these moves because I started and finished my Master’s during this time. Settling in Ashland, Wisconsin, I completed my internship through Northland Counseling and graduated with my Master’s in Licensed Professional Counseling, from Liberty University, in 2015. During my internship I co-facilitated Dialectical Behavioral Therapy groups; provided individual, couple and family therapy; worked with a criminal justice grant to creatively work with women in the justice system, using Equine Therapy, Seeking Safety Program and Art Therapy. After graduating, I worked with the Comprehensive Community Supports Program in Ashland, Bayfield, and Price counties providing therapy to people and families who are affected by severe and persistent mental illness. In 2019, I became a fully Licensed Professional Counselor and opened Strength to Aspire New Dreams, LLC. I have training in Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR.
