Great to meet you!

Welcome, I'm Jenn. I am glad you are here. Slowing down and considering your own support can be difficult for many of the folks I work with, and you’ve taken the first step.

My clients tend to be smart, quirky, thoughtful, community-minded professionals. They are also often perfectionists who expect a lot from themselves. Anxiety, depression, dissatisfaction in work and relationships, and burnout can arise when you relate to yourself critically or chronically minimize your own needs.

A licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I offer depth-oriented psychotherapy for adults. I welcome your present challenges, lifetime of experiences, and unique inner world and offer a space where even the most confusing and distressing concerns can be met with warmth and intelligence. I work to model and support you in relating to yourself with kindness and with clear-eyes. From there, you may better connect with your own wisdom and find you can make more confident and kind choices in your relationships and career.

I hold an M.A. in counseling psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies where I trained in holistic approaches to healing emotional pain.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is influenced by psychoanalytic relational depth work, attachment theory, and the neuroscience of stress and trauma recovery. Many of the techniques I use come from Emotionally Focused Therapy and Self-Compassion Therapy, two evidenced-based approaches that use emotion as the pathway to change. I believe in the healing power of safe connection, fostering a warm, secure stance toward one's own inner experience, and helping you turn toward difficult feelings with greater acceptance and resilience.

My approach is particularly suited to treating anxiety, self-criticism, low self-esteem, and stress and burnout. I have extensive experience working with relationship issues, family dynamics, career concerns, and life transitions.

My style is curious, astute, creative, and down-to-earth. I aim to create an environment where you are welcome to say whatever is on your mind and can trust that you will be received with empathy and genuineness. In these conditions, many people are able to connect to their own inner guidance and make more effective use of resources in their lives.

What you can expect from me

My intention is that you will come away from our first session with a sense for how it is to work with me. I hold the quality of our relationship as vital to therapy being helpful for you. I strive to meet you with close attention, thoughtfulness, and genuine care.

In our work together, some days may be emotional or heavy, other days lighter. I’ll be with you. I will listen to what you want for your life and do my best to help you get there. The therapeutic process requires commitment and effort. It is also often full of relief, energy, and discovery.

Over time, my goal is for you to experience more self-trust and peace as you move through life. Self compassion therapy has proven effective in helping with:

  • more stable self-evaluation/self-esteem
  • improved mood
  • more creativity
  • more relationship satisfaction
  • improved overall health

If you'd like to learn more about this form of therapy and about working with me, I welcome you to reach out.
