Great to meet you!

I’m Jenn, an independently licensed clinical social worker in both MA and CT with over 23 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.

I have worked in a variety of settings including crisis teams, outpatient therapy, family therapy, and high risk foster care. My passion lies in working with adolescents, transitional age youth (16-24 yo), and adults ages 18-59 helping them to reach their goals, even if they aren't entirely sure what their goals are or how to get there. I use a variety of tools to help with self-exploration and goal setting that I have found to be incredibly effective for those looking to do this type of work.

When I'm not working, I love to spend time gardening outdoors, taking care of my many indoor plants, going to the park with my dog, watching the birds, reading, cooking, and spending time with my loved ones including my husband and two step-children. I value transparency, diversity, acceptance, compassion, and kindness and believe that I demonstrate this in all areas of my life.

My approach to therapy

I believe that, regardless of anything, we all need a little extra support at times. Whether this is to get through an especially challenging time, get to know ourselves better, or to have an ear to listen and help us achieve our goals, my therapeutic style is to meet each individual where they're at and to support them in gaining the confidence, tools, and skills to get to where they would like to be.

I truly believe that we are all doing the very best with what we have, and an outside perspective can help us get to the next place we would like to be. I provide an accepting, non-judgmental, supportive, strengths-based, collaborative, and compassionate environment where I strive for all individuals to feel comfortable to be themselves, say it like it is, and feel supported in working towards their goals.

What you can expect from me

I believe that a strong, trusting rapport is most important in establishing a therapeutic relationship and will always spend the time needed to help each person I work with feel comfortable, regardless of how long it takes or what it looks like. I strive for transparency at all times and encourage honest conversations and feedback.

I fully recognize that starting therapy can feel strange! You are sharing some really personal things with a complete stranger which can be scary and intimidating. I use a collaborative, client-driven approach verses an expert-driven approach. I will offer suggestions and guidance along the way, but will never assume that I know more about you than you do or that I am right because I am the clinician. I take the time to understand the values, beliefs, and culture of each person I work with in order to offer the most individualized and effective approach and to best understand each unique individual and where they are coming from.
