Great to meet you!
One unique quality that I offer is having an academic background in both the psychology and biology field, as well as having worked extensively in both fields. This has led to an increased understanding of the interconnectedness between mental and physical health and how they influence each other. I was initially employed in the biomedical field, gaining experience in human and veterinary medicine and diagnostics, as well as having worked as a research scientist in academia and in industry. Following that I returned to college to obtain a master's in social work to pursue a career as a mental health therapist. I have 16 years of experience working in the mental health field, including working as a behavioral specialist, mobile therapist, primary therapist in a residential treatment facility, therapist in an equine assisted therapy program and working with individuals coping with severe mental illness. My life experiences and passion for psychology, with a focus on human behavior combined with a background in the biomedical field has definitely contributed to my use of various approaches that recognize the importance of using a holistic approach in addressing mental health concerns and challenges. This includes recognizing the interconnectedness between mental, emotional, spiritual and physiological functioning. Addressing different aspects of a person's functioning can facilitate mental and physical well-being and help motivate clients to work toward successfully making positive changes in their lives.
