Great to meet you!

I’m Jeremy Litfin, a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor with more than 9 years of experience helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, ADHD, social anxiety, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions. I work especially well with professionals and individuals who are thoughtful, driven, and accustomed to handling problems on their own but may find themselves feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward.

My practice is collaborative, practical, and grounded in evidence-based care. I use approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered therapy to help clients better understand the patterns contributing to their challenges and develop practical strategies for change.

Outside of therapy, I’m interested in history, sports, meteorology, and creativity in everyday life. I’m also a parent, which has shaped how I think about balance, patience, and being present for the people who matter most. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you can feel understood while making meaningful progress toward a more manageable and fulfilling life.

My approach to therapy

My approach is direct, participatory, and collaborative. I believe therapy should provide space to understand what you’re experiencing while also helping you take practical steps toward meaningful change. Rather than simply talking about problems, we’ll work together to identify the thoughts, behaviors, and patterns that may be keeping you stuck and develop strategies that can help you move forward.

I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered techniques based on your individual needs. Our work may include developing coping strategies, clarifying your values and goals, strengthening confidence, and breaking overwhelming challenges into more manageable steps.

Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, burnout, ADHD, depression, social anxiety, relationship concerns, or a major life transition, I’ll work alongside you to better understand your challenges and recognize your strengths. My goal is to help you develop practical tools that support meaningful progress both inside and outside of therapy.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a collaborative conversation focused on understanding what brought you to therapy and what you would like to change. We’ll discuss your current concerns, relevant experiences, strengths, and goals while beginning to identify patterns that may be contributing to stress, anxiety, burnout, or other challenges in your life.

I’ll also take time to understand what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past and what you hope to gain from therapy. Together, we’ll begin identifying meaningful goals and breaking larger challenges into practical, manageable steps. You’ll have space to ask questions and share at a pace that feels comfortable while actively participating in the direction of our work.

My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard and understood, with greater clarity about what you want to work toward and how we can approach it together. As therapy progresses, we’ll continue building practical strategies that can help you create meaningful and sustainable change.
