Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addictions Therapist with 20 years of experience helping individuals and couples navigate life's challenges. Over the course of my career, I have worked with clients experiencing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, mood disorders, addiction and substance use, relationship and marital difficulties, stress, and major life transitions.

My formal training is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I also incorporate motivational enhancement and solution-focused approaches into my work. I believe therapy is most effective when it is practical, collaborative, and tailored to the individual. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I work with clients to better understand the patterns that may be keeping them stuck, identify meaningful goals, and develop realistic strategies for creating change.

My goal is to provide a comfortable, nonjudgmental environment where clients can be open about what is going on in their lives. Whether you are dealing with a specific mental health concern, struggling with a relationship or addiction, or simply feeling overwhelmed and wanting things to be different, we can work together to identify what matters most to you and determine the next steps forward.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, practical, and straightforward. I believe therapy should be a place where you can speak openly and honestly without feeling judged. I work to create a comfortable environment where we can identify what is getting in the way, build on the strengths you already have, and develop realistic strategies for moving forward.

My primary approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on understanding how our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. I also incorporate motivational enhancement and solution-focused techniques, depending on your needs and goals. After 20 years of working with clients, I've learned that no single approach works for everyone, so I tailor therapy to the person sitting in front of me.

I tend to be active and engaged in sessions. I'll listen and give you room to process, but I'll also ask questions, offer feedback, and respectfully challenge you when I think it may be helpful. My goal isn't simply to help you feel better during our session—it's to help you develop insight, skills, and practical changes that carry over into your everyday life.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my main goal is to get to know you and understand what brought you to therapy. We'll talk about what has been going on in your life, what you would like to be different, and what you hope to get out of our work together. You don't need to come in knowing exactly what you want to work on or having everything figured out—we can sort through that together.

I also want the first session to give you a chance to get to know me and decide whether I feel like a good fit for you. I'll ask questions, but I want the conversation to feel natural rather than like an interview. We'll begin identifying the concerns that are most important to you, discuss some initial goals, and start developing a plan for moving forward.

You can expect me to be straightforward, supportive, and nonjudgmental. I believe a good therapeutic relationship should feel comfortable enough for you to be yourself while also giving us room to have honest conversations and work toward meaningful change.
