Great to meet you!

You may already know why you overfunction, people-please, silence yourself, or keep repeating patterns in relationships that leave you drained. Insight matters, but it is not the finish line. I help people turn what they know into boundaries, emotional self-trust, and choices that reflect the life they are ready to lead.

I’m a licensed psychotherapist, a nationally certified counselor, a former adjunct psychology instructor in higher education, and the founder of Mental Health Monarchs. With more than 15 years of experience in mental health, including 6 years as a therapist, I work with adults navigating childhood trauma, emotional neglect, family dysfunction, identity concerns, and toxic relationship patterns.

My style is intuitive, culturally grounded, curious, and compassion-forward. We’ll explore what is underneath your patterns without making therapy feel stiff or overly clinical. We can leave the work voice outside. I’m not code-switching with you. Cool?

This space is best suited for people who are ready for honest reflection and willing to begin using new tools in real time, in real life. I give homework.

My approach to therapy

My approach is integrative, culturally attuned, and emotionally liberating. I draw from person-centered therapy, CBT, psychodynamic and transpersonal approaches, inner-child work, and nervous system regulation to help you understand how earlier experiences continue to shape your emotions, relationships, and choices.

Depending on what fits your process, we may use journaling, music, imagery, creative reflection, or dream exploration to uncover meaning and strengthen emotional awareness. Recurring dreams, for example, may become a focus of our work when they offer insight into underlying emotions or patterns.

Insight is the doorway, not the destination. We will also examine how patterns show up in real time and practice responses that support clearer boundaries, steadier regulation, and more intentional decision-making. The pace is collaborative, but the work is active.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a conversation with structure—not an interrogation and not a race to tell me everything at once. We will discuss what brought you to therapy, what has been affecting you emotionally and relationally, what you have already tried, and what you hope will be different.

I will ask about relevant history, current supports, safety, coping strategies, current self-care practices, and the patterns you have begun to notice. You will also have space to ask questions about my approach and what working together may look like.

We will discuss the pace that feels manageable and whether my active, insight-to-action style fits what you need right now. We may identify an initial focus and a small next step, while allowing the treatment plan to deepen as trust and understanding grow.
