Great to meet you!

I’m Jess Garnica, a board-certified Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) providing evidence-based psychiatric care for adults.

My career began as a mental health counselor during nursing school, followed by four years as an oncology nurse. During my graduate training, I returned to psychiatry, working as a nurse on an adult inpatient unit, where I developed strong clinical skills in crisis intervention.

I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed my clinical training at a federally qualified health center, gaining experience caring for diverse and medically complex populations.

Today, I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, mood disorders, ADHD, and stress-related concerns, and work with clients navigating burnout, emotional dysregulation, and life transitions. When appropriate, I integrate therapy with medication management to support sustainable change.

My approach to therapy

I take a solution-oriented approach to care that is both supportive and appropriately challenging. I work collaboratively with clients to create clear, individualized treatment plans that feel realistic, intentional, and easy to track over time.

My focus is not only on symptom relief, but on helping clients build confidence, insight, and a sense of control over their mental health. I value transparency, progress, and care that feels empowering rather than passive, with the goal of supporting lasting, meaningful change.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, clients can expect a thorough, collaborative evaluation focused on understanding their concerns, history, and goals. I aim to create a calm, supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in the process.

Together, we identify clear treatment goals and outline an initial plan so clients leave with a sense of direction and understanding of next steps. My hope is that after the first session, clients feel optimistic, grounded, and confident that meaningful change is both possible and already underway.
