Great to meet you!

I am so glad you're here! I'm Jessica Haffner, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, and trauma therapy is the center of my work. I am trained in EMDR and in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University. I opened my private practice in January of 2025. I have a particular passion for working with women navigating symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and the challenges that come with different seasons of life.

My approach to therapy

My approach is compassionate, trauma-informed, and individualized to what you need. For those working through depression, anxiety, and life transitions I offer a warm person-centered approach where we tackle hard things together. For those who are experiencing the life-altering symptoms of trauma I offer EMDR, a powerful yet gentle approach to reprocessing traumatic memories, and Trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. These are evidence-based practices that have been shown to dramatically improve daily functioning. Whatever, the issue, I will tailor your care around YOU.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is designed to feel calm, encouraging, and never overwhelming. We'll take time to get to know one another, talk about what brought you to counseling, and explore what you hope to gain from our time together, all at a pace that feels comfortable to you. I will ask some background questions about your history, your health, and what you have already tried, and you can answer as much or as little as you want to. I want to be clear about one thing in particular, because it matters in trauma work: we do not start processing anything in the first session. First we get to know each other and make sure I am the right fit for you. Nothing gets opened before you are ready for it. By the end I will tell you what I am thinking, and we will decide together where to begin.
