Jesse Adams

Prior to opening my private practice, I worked as a clinician at SOBA New Jersey as the lead facilitator of their Family Program. I have years of experience working with individuals and families dealing with substance and alcohol use disorders. I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Social Work from Rutgers University, where I also completed the Addiction Counselor Training (ACT) program.

Fun facts about me:

1. 1) Fluent in German
   • 2) Completed my first marathon in 2018 (training for my third now)
   • 3) Logged over 350 performances (on roller skates!) in the European production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s STARLIGHT EXPRESS
   • 4) Performed multiple times with my punk band at New York City’s legendary nightclub, CBGB’s
   • 5) Produced an independent film which debuted at Robert DeNiro’s Tribeca Film Festival and played in cinemas in over 60 U.S. cities.

I believe you already have the answer to your problem. If you’re unaware of that answer, my job is to help you uncover it. If you’re conscious of it, my job is to help you accept it. In both cases, we work together as you decide what you’re going to do next. Either way, you are the expert on your own life. I ask the questions and help you sift through your options. I see my role as a guide, not a guru.

Like a guide, I give you options based on my experience, as well as what you have told me is important and interesting to you. If you have only a vague idea of where you’d like to go, I share what I know and what I think might appeal to you. Rather than trying to convince you to go someplace you’re not interested in or ready to go to, I follow your lead.
