Great to meet you!

You don’t have to find the right words to begin healing—together, we can create them. I am Jessica Cabrera, a I’m a bilingual psychotherapist who provides therapy in both Spanish and English. I'm a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist in New York State and a provisionally registered Art Therapist with the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB), and I invite you to explore your story in a way that goes beyond conversation alone. I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling–Art Therapy from Edinboro University, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and an Associate degree in Applied Science with a focus in Multimedia and Design. I have been practicing for 4 years across outpatient clinics and community-based settings, working with toddlers, children, families, and adults. My experience includes individual therapy, group work, supportive family sessions, and early childhood mental health services supporting children ages birth to five and their caregivers.

My approach to therapy

Your healing does not have to follow a single path—it can be creative, flexible, and uniquely yours. I integrate Art Therapy with psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Expressive Arts Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered (Rogerian) approaches to meet you where you are. This means I support you in exploring unconscious patterns, challenging unhelpful thoughts, expressing emotions that may feel difficult to verbalize, and reconnecting with your strengths. I work from a trauma-informed framework that prioritizes safety, choice, empowerment, and trust, and I use art as both a healing and insight-building tool to help you gain clarity, confidence, and forward movement.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is about feeling grounded, seen, and safe—no pressure to “perform” or have it all figured out. We’ll begin by exploring what brings you in, what you hope to change or understand, and how you want your healing journey to feel. At "Serenity Through Art," I offer a supportive, creative space where you can reconnect with your inner strength through art and reflection, especially if you’ve experienced difficult or unhealthy relationships or grown up in restrictive or extremist religious environments. Sessions are offered online, and we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you while building a therapeutic space rooted in trust, expression, and meaningful change.
