Great to meet you!

Hello! I am Dr. Jessica Roy, a licensed clinical psychologist, researcher, and writer based in California. I currently work primarily in private practice and provide psychodynamic psychotherapy that is collaborative, warm, and rooted in depth.

My approach to therapy

I view therapeutic work as an invitation to turn towards the areas of our lives that are calling to us for some attention. Sometimes this means the challenging, confusing, painful, and mysterious parts of life. Other times it may mean exploring our connection to sense of self, our desires, creativity, and vitality. Therapy helps us to consider where we would like to grow, change, and heal - within a safe-enough space based in curiosity and connection. Depth therapy focuses on fostering meaningful change through greater clarity, deeper self-awareness, and more intentional ways of relating.

What you can expect from me

I believe a relational connection is foundational for doing meaningful therapeutic work, and I feel honored to come alongside my patients on the journey. At the outset of our work together the primary aim is to get to know you - how you think and feel about the circumstances, and what specifically prompted your interest in therapy. I listen, ask questions, and offer insight into how we may move forward with the work.
