Great to meet you!

My name is Jia Wong-Duffield and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am the founder and owner of Gentle Journey Wellness, LLC. I received a BA in Psychology with a Minor in Criminal Justice from SLU. My next venture took me to the UST where I completed my masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since then I have cultivated clinical experience with clients ranging from work in racial identity, multicultural issues, chronic illness, academic success, trauma, and to life transitions.

My approach to therapy

I am a Houston-based licensed professional counselor who offers individual therapy within a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space. I approach therapy with a focus on enhancing awareness and connection in the present moment. My work also navigates from a framework focused on understanding the impact of generational trauma, racial identity on mental health. My practice draws from body-centered, attachment focused, psychodynamic, interpersonal, and culturally-centered orientations.

What you can expect from me

I make it a priority to affirm and empower you for your bravery through difficult times. No one is more of an expert on your life and experiences than you are. My aim is to create a space in which, through our work together, your unique strengths and gifts emerge and are more apparent and accessible to you.
