Great to meet you!
As a Latina/mother/daughter/wife, I understand the difficulty of making time to prioritize my wellness. As people of color we often hear " we have gone through worse and didn't need therapy" "our people don't need therapy, thats a white thing" "you are not crazy." These expressions are meant to celebrate the resiliency of our people but beneath the surface they are damaging. By denying our humanity, we downplay the effects mental illness can have on us, our family and our community. We ignore our own pain and suffering, in an effort to show our "strength."
Ask yourself: If the person you love most, was suffering and there was a treatment to ease that pain, would you tell them to just be strong and tough it out? I have a hunch that you would guide them towards healing. You too Deserve Healing and I can Help.
