Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Joanie! If you're feeling weighed down by trauma, anxiety, or painful life experiences, you don't have to navigate them alone. Trauma can leave you feeling stuck in the past, constantly on edge, or wondering why certain emotions and reactions seem so difficult to control. My approach is warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. I work with adults to better understand how past experiences continue to shape their lives today while helping them build the insight, confidence, and tools needed to move forward in a way that feels authentic and empowering.

My approach to therapy

I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia and have advanced training in trauma treatment, including EMDR certification. Every person's healing journey is different, so I tailor therapy to your unique needs, goals, and comfort level rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. Depending on what's best for you, I may incorporate EMDR alongside other evidence-based techniques. Together, we'll explore your experiences, recognize your strengths, and create a path toward healing that feels supportive, practical, and meaningful.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other in a safe, supportive environment. There's no pressure to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. We'll talk about what's bringing you to therapy, the challenges you're facing, and what you hope will be different. Together, we'll begin identifying goals that reflect what matters most to you, so you leave with a clear sense of direction and confidence that you have a partner in your healing journey.
