Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Joann Chavez-Holder, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults through life’s challenges. I specialize in helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and stress. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, struggling with painful past experiences, or finding it difficult to feel like yourself, therapy can help you understand what you’re going through and begin moving toward healing.

My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and judgment-free space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, and discover their own strengths. Through convenient telehealth sessions throughout Kentucky, I’ll meet you where you are and help you develop the tools and confidence to create meaningful, lasting change.

My approach to therapy

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and focused on helping you feel empowered in your healing journey. I draw from evidence-based approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing, to help you process difficult experiences, recognize unhelpful patterns, and develop healthier ways to manage your emotions.

I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you discover your strengths and find strategies that work for you. Together, we’ll explore how past experiences may be affecting your present, identify what you want to change, and build practical skills to help you feel more grounded and confident. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, focusing on progress that aligns with your needs and goals.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. We’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, the challenges you’ve been facing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. You’ll have space to share your story, ask questions, and express any concerns you may have about getting started.

My priority is to help you feel comfortable, understood, and supported from the beginning. Together, we’ll begin identifying goals that reflect your needs and discuss how therapy can best support your healing and growth. You don’t need to have everything figured out before we meet—we’ll take things one step at a time as you work toward greater emotional well-being and a more fulfilling life.
