Great to meet you!

I'm Joanna Czyz, LCSW, MSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to supporting children, preteens, adults, parents, and families through life's challenges. I have over 20 years of experience working with children in preschool and elementary education, which inspired my passion for helping individuals and families navigate emotional, behavioral, and relational difficulties.

I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship concerns, parenting challenges, self-esteem, and behavioral issues. As an attachment-, trauma-, and expressive-based therapist, I believe everyone deserves to feel worthy of care, compassion, and support. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where clients feel understood, valued, and empowered as they move toward healing and personal growth.

I work with children ages 4 and older, preteens, adults, parents, and families, using evidence-based approaches tailored to each person's unique needs and goals.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I believe that healing begins within a trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe enough to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of judgment. I strive to truly listen, support, and meet each person where they are.

I integrate a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness practices, Synergetic Play Therapy, Sandtray therapy, expressive arts therapies, and person-centered approaches. For children, I often incorporate play and creative interventions that allow them to express themselves in developmentally appropriate ways. For adults, parents, and families, I focus on increasing self-awareness, strengthening coping skills, improving relationships, and processing difficult life experiences.

My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, emotional regulation, impulsive behaviors, grief and loss, parenting support, self-esteem, relationship challenges, and life transitions.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to create a warm, accepting, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. Therapy can be a place for reflection, growth, healing, and transformation. I believe that every person has strengths and resilience that can be nurtured throughout the therapeutic process.

Together, we work toward goals such as reducing anxiety and depression, healing from trauma, improving emotional regulation, strengthening self-esteem, developing healthier coping strategies, enhancing relationships, increasing self-compassion, and building confidence in navigating life's challenges. For parents and families, goals may include improving communication, strengthening attachment, and creating healthier family dynamics.

Ultimately, my hope is that clients leave therapy with greater self-awareness, a stronger sense of empowerment, and the tools they need to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. I would be honored to support you on your healing journey.
