Welcome. My name is Joanna, and I am glad you are here.
Asking for help might be the one of the hardest things to do. It is also a courageous, healthy, and empowering act. It is the first step in deciding to take an active role in how you want to feel, show up, and achieve in your life.
Whether you are living with anxiety, trying to heal from trauma, or learning to be your most authentic self, it can be overwhelming and scary to go it alone. I would be privileged to be your partner in helping you feel more you.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and currently see adult (18+) clients virtually. I specialize in anxiety and panic disorders, depression, family and parenting issues, trauma, and LGBTQIA needs. I am trained in EMDR and I utilize skills and interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic Therapy, and supportive patient-centered approaches to meet your unique needs.
Having a safe space to express oneself without judgment, the opportunity to heal from trauma and emotional pain, and to feel overall more hopeful and capable is vital for overall mental health.
One size does not fit all; especially when it comes to meeting the wonderfully complex and unique needs of a human being. I see therapy as a collaborative and intentional partnership and value your input on your goals and approach/modalities that feel most authentic and effective for you.
My roles as your therapist will encompass being an educator, guide, cheerleader, accountability partner, and a compassionate presence.
Feeling seen, heard, and supported are foundational to a productive therapeutic relationship. Therefore, the first goal of treatment will always be to build a sense of safety, trust, and collaboration. I look forward to learning about you, your needs and presenting concerns, and the future self you envision. Together we will identify your overall treatment goals and ideal path forward
