Great to meet you!

Dr. Murray uses a holistic, balanced, & culturally informed approach to her work, connecting with positivity, warmth, and understanding. She has a MA in Mental Health Counseling from Marist University and PhD in Psychology from Columbia University. Dr. Murray has worked in universities, private practice, as a professor and as a career & executive functioning consultant.

My approach to therapy

The intake process usually consists of 1 - 2 sessions of collecting background information. This information is used to create an initial treatment outline and get a sense of what has contributed to current status and functioning. Dr. Murray often works with adults struggling with a variety of mental health challenges including: daily anxiety and overthinking, executive functioning issues due to any number of diagnoses or life stressors, life transitions, basic burnout and stress management. In addition, Dr. Murray specializes in difficult marital and family relationships, dealing with narcissists, boundary setting, and rebuilding self esteem through positive psychology and active behavioral changes.

What you can expect from me

We start with what brought you to therapy right now. From there, we get to know how you got to this point in your life, what's been meaningful, and what you'd like to be different. The first session is more conversation than intake; by the end you should have a clearer sense of what working together would look like.
