Great to meet you!

I’m Joanna. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Alaska supporting adults through emotional, relational, and life transitions. I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW), a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, and I am a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC), a national certification in substance use and addiction treatment.

My work has taken place in both outpatient and residential settings, where I have sat with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and substance use recovery. I focus on listening closely and understanding each person’s experience, especially the parts that are difficult to name or explain. I aim to support reflection, honesty, and a deeper sense of clarity over time.

I believe therapy works best when people feel respected, understood, and not rushed. I strive to create a space where you do not have to perform, have the right words, or have everything figured out. My role is to meet you where you are and help you make sense of what you are carrying, how you got here, and what healing and growth might look like for you moving forward.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, collaborative, and insight oriented. I believe in the power of deep, meaningful conversation. Therapy that goes beyond surface level coping skills and invites true understanding and transformation. I work from a relational and psychodynamic lens, integrating trauma informed care, narrative therapy, and cognitive behavioral approaches as needed.

Above all, I listen deeply. I help clients explore patterns, internal narratives, and relational dynamics that may be keeping them stuck. If you are someone who finds healing in talking things through and uncovering the why behind your experiences, we will likely be a good fit.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a supportive and thoughtful space where we begin to get to know one another. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and what feels most important for you right now. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.

My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and a little less alone. Together, we will begin shaping a therapy process that feels grounded, intentional, and aligned with your needs.
