Great to meet you!

I’m Joanne Slatinsky, a mental health counselor in the State of Georgia and licensed as a Professional Counselor since 1987. I have had the privilege of counseling hundreds of people through my long career in mental health. I believe I have a calling for helping people during difficult times. I approach life and my work with my clients with compassion and understanding. I work with adult individuals and couples with a variety of issues and conflicts. I have experience in working with a wide range of concerns and mental health issues, but a few examples are anxiety, stress, depression, dealing with feelings, relationship issues, trauma including childhood trauma, narcicissism and narcissistic relationships and other difficult relationships, grief and dealing with change. I am married for 41 years and we have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. I have a lot of life experience, probably have been through some struggles that are similar to yours and I bring a lot of education, training and experience, to assist you in any way I can. I look forward to meeting you.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is integrative, which means I draw from different therapeutic models depending on what best fits each client. I often use aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy to help people identify unhelpful thought patterns, and combine that with a person-centered style that emphasizes empathy, acceptance, and collaboration.

At the core, I believe the therapeutic relationship is key. I aim to create a space where clients feel genuinely heard, safe, and empowered to make change. I also tailor my approach based on what a person is going through—whether it’s trauma, anxiety, identity work, or life transitions—so therapy is always a collaborative and evolving process.

What you can expect from me

I focus on helping clients build insight into their patterns, explore what’s meaningful to them, and develop practical strategies to make positive change.

Over time and through effort and application of learned change in patterns my hope is that clients walk away feeling more empowered, emotionally aware, and connected to themselves and others.
