Great to meet you!

My name is Jodi Huffman-Frazee and I earned my post-graduate certificate in psychiatric mental health nursing from OSF College of Nursing in 2022. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked as an inpatient psychiatric nurse, gaining extensive experience supporting individuals through acute mental health crises, medication stabilization, and complex diagnostic presentations. My years in inpatient psychiatry have shaped my calm, grounded approach and deep understanding of severe and persistent mental illness.

I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy. I treat a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and psychotic disorders.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative and client-centered, emphasizing open communication, education, and shared decision-making. I believes that every individual’s story matters and strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and respected. I understand that seeking mental health treatment can feel overwhelming. My goal is to make the process approachable and empowering—helping clients better understand their symptoms, explore treatment options, and build practical tools for daily life. I value integrating lifestyle factors, coping skills, and therapeutic support alongside medication when appropriate.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is focused on getting to know you—your story, your concerns, and your goals for treatment. This initial visit is typically a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and is designed to create a strong foundation for your care.

During the appointment, I will ask about:

  • Your current symptoms and what brings you in
  • Your mental health history
  • Past or current medications and treatments
  • Medical history and overall health
  • Family mental health history
  • Lifestyle factors such as sleep, stress, work, relationships, and substance use

This conversation helps ensure an accurate diagnosis and thoughtful treatment planning. You’ll also have time to ask questions, share concerns, and discuss what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past.

If medication is appropriate, I will review options with you in detail—explaining benefits, possible side effects, and what to expect. Treatment decisions are collaborative, and your input is always valued. In some cases, lab work or coordination with your primary care provider may be recommended to support safe and effective care.

Most importantly, the first visit is a space where you can feel heard without judgment.
