Great to meet you!

I have a background in philosophy and psychology, and during my many years of professional service (in counseling/therapy, child welfare, jails, psychiatric hospitals, as university professor) and in my personal life (as husband, father, and Orthodox Christian), I have been blessed to help many people overcome challenges and walk through difficult times. My areas of expertise include exceptional young people, trauma/grief, narcissistic abuse, and marital/premarital counseling.

My approach to therapy

Our world is changing rapidly and I believe ancient/traditional wisdom and modern knowledge are both essential for navigating these times and living well. That means that I'm well-versed in modern psychology and evidence-based therapy practice (CBT, DBT, SFBT), but I also integrate things that human beings have traditionally understood are essential for human flourishing (exercise/movement, nutrition/fasting, sleep, nature, community, purpose, and religion/spirituality, etc.).

What you can expect from me

I enjoy getting to know each individual person, and his/her unique circumstances determine the best approach. Together, we set goals and stay accountable to them. Clients know they are working with someone who genuinely cares about them but also has the wisdom, skills, values, and demeanor to make real progress. I walk with you, supporting when necessary and challenging when appropriate. My ultimate goal is to help people live and flourish, creating a reality in which they can thrive.
