Great to meet you!

Joe Kovacevich is a licensed psychotherapist practicing psychoanalytic psychotherapy in San Luis Obispo. Prior to receiving his Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Joe graduated with his B.A. in Philosophy from UCLA.

Joe received clinical training at a leading community mental health clinic in Los Angeles where he treated a diverse population of individuals, couples, and families. He also worked at a well respected treatment center for teens and young adults where he worked extensively with mood disorders, eating disorders, anxiety and OCD.

My approach to therapy

Our focus together will be on bringing awareness and curiosity into your internal world so you become more integrated and content in life. I will use a non-directive approach so you have the freedom to establish the pace that works for you. The benefit to this way of working is that it allows for any insights and gains that are achieved to come from within you and therefore will be yours to keep.

What you can expect from me

I will be there with you to help reach moments of insight and change by interpreting what may be happening underneath the surface. As we find a rhythm to our work together, you will gradually be able to understand the underlying cause of your difficulties and begin to rethink the issues that may be holding you back so you can better accept yourself and find greater fulfillment.
