Welcome! My name is Joel Kuppersmith, I am a clinical psychologist based in Huntington, NY. My experience in working with individuals , couples and families has been mutually gratifying. Although changes have occurred in the mental health field, including more targeted medications and claims for instant relief, I believe people desire a more qualitative overall improvement in themselves and in their relationships.
My expertise is individual and marital therapy with a focus on anxiety and depression. I also specialize in posttraumatic stress disorder resulting from physical or emotional injury or abuse and I have extensive experience working with adult children of alcholics. Identification and reframing of traumatic events is a goal of psychotherapy.
During your first session you will leave with more clarity and understanding of the reason you initiated therapy. We achieve that by mutual collaboration of defining aspects of themselves and others that you may not have been aware of.
