Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome.

My name is Johanne Lafleur, MSN, PMHNP-BC, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 17 years of healthcare experience and extensive experience treating adults across a variety of mental health settings. My background includes inpatient psychiatry, community mental health, forensic psychiatry, and telepsychiatry.

I specialize in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of anxiety disorders, depression, stress-related conditions, trauma-related concerns, mood disorders, and attention-related difficulties. I work with adults who may be experiencing overwhelming stress, excessive worry, low mood, life transitions, relationship challenges, burnout, or difficulty with focus and concentration.

My approach is collaborative, supportive, and individualized. I believe treatment works best when clients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their care. Together, we will discuss your concerns, explore treatment options, and develop a plan that aligns with your goals and values. When appropriate, treatment may include medication management, psychoeducation, lifestyle interventions, and coordination with therapists or other healthcare providers.

I strive to create a nonjudgmental and welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable discussing their experiences openly. Whether you are seeking support for a new concern or managing a long-standing mental health condition, my goal is to help you build resilience, improve daily functioning, and enhance your overall quality of life.

I look forward to partnering with you on your mental health journey.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized. I believe that every person's experience is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to mental health treatment. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable discussing their concerns openly and honestly.

I work closely with clients to understand their symptoms, life experiences, strengths, and treatment goals. Together, we develop a personalized plan that may include medication management, psychoeducation, lifestyle modifications, coping skills, and coordination with therapy or other healthcare providers when appropriate.

I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, stress-related conditions, mood disorders, trauma-related concerns, and attention-related difficulties in adults. I also enjoy helping clients navigate major life transitions, workplace stress, relationship challenges, and burnout.

When recommending medication, I believe in shared decision-making. I take time to educate clients about treatment options, expected benefits, potential side effects, and alternative approaches so they can make informed decisions about their care. My focus is not only on symptom reduction but also on improving overall functioning, resilience, and quality of life.

I strive to meet clients where they are, celebrate progress, and provide practical support as they work toward meaningful and lasting change.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, clients can expect a thorough and supportive evaluation focused on understanding their concerns, symptoms, personal history, and treatment goals. I take time to learn about what brought you to treatment, how your symptoms are affecting your daily life, and any factors that may be contributing to your current challenges.

We will review relevant mental health, medical, family, and social history, as well as any previous treatment experiences. If appropriate, we will discuss potential diagnoses, treatment options, and whether medication may be beneficial.

My goal is to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable asking questions. I believe that a strong therapeutic partnership is an important foundation for successful treatment.

By the end of the first session, clients can typically expect to have a clearer understanding of their symptoms, an opportunity to discuss treatment recommendations, and a personalized plan that reflects their needs and goals. Together, we will identify realistic next steps and begin working toward improved mental health, functioning, and overall well-being.
