Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm John Benton, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly 20 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges. My background includes community mental health, crisis intervention, and residential treatment, where I've worked with people from diverse backgrounds and age groups. I specialize in helping clients manage emotional regulation difficulties, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and Borderline Personality Disorder. I also offer Christian counseling for clients who wish to incorporate their faith into the therapeutic process.

My approach to therapy

My approach is compassionate, practical, and nonjudgmental. I primarily use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients develop healthier coping skills, manage emotions more effectively, and create lasting positive change. I work collaboratively with clients to identify strengths, set meaningful goals, and build solutions that fit their unique needs and circumstances. My goal is to provide a supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, we'll get to know each other and discuss the concerns that brought you to therapy. I'll take time to understand your current challenges, personal history, and goals so we can create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. My goal is for you to leave the session feeling comfortable, supported, and hopeful about the path forward. Together, we'll identify practical steps to help you begin making progress toward the changes you want to see in your life.
