
There are times when we experience stress that feels overwhelming, and, as a result, we have trouble moving forward. These feelings can be in response to a specific event. Other times, we can get into a long-standing routine where positive outcomes never seem to happen. It is essential to understand the underlying issues and develop more constructive approaches.
As a clinical psychologist with extensive practice experience, I have had an opportunity to use many of the above mentioned approaches. In addition, my work has appeared in a number of peer reviewed professional journals. Aside from the issue of technique, I believe that for any therapy approach to be successful it is essential that the client and I be able to establish an atmosphere of trust and cooperation. In my practice it is building this constructive working relationship that is the first order of business.
