Great to meet you!

Starting therapy is a deeply personal choice, and I wholeheartedly welcome you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist based in Los Angeles, and my own journey as a first‐generation Korean American immigrant shapes the heart of my work. I know what it’s like to grow up between cultures, to navigate family expectations, and to search for a sense of belonging. These experiences guide my commitment to supporting my clients with warmth and cultural humility.

I have extensive clinical training in community clinics and various hospital systems, working with adults and older adults facing depression, anxiety, trauma, substance-use problems, relationship difficulties, and cultural identity concerns. My research, which emphasizes culture and community, continues to influence how I understand resilience and healing by exploring one's roots and values.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is rooted in seeing you as a whole person, not a set of symptoms. I take a strength‐based, humanistic, and growth‐oriented perspective, believing that people naturally move toward change when they feel understood and grounded. I use a biopsychosocial lens to understand your experiences and draw from evidence‐based approaches—such as CBT, ACT, and DBT‐informed strategies—to tailor our work to your emotional needs.

Cultural humility is central to how I practice. I take time to understand the identities you hold and the cultural stories that have shaped you, and I see this exploration as a powerful source of empowerment and self‐esteem. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and genuinely seen, so we can work together toward meaningful and lasting change.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect an open, affirming space where you’re encouraged to share what brings you to therapy at this point in your life. I use a semi‐structured approach that feels more like a natural conversation than a checklist, giving us room to explore your story while ensuring we cover what’s most important to you. Then we’ll collaboratively create a treatment goal that aligns with your values and needs.

This time is also about getting to know each other and seeing whether the fit feels right. My goal is for you to leave the session with a sense of clarity, comfort, and confidence that you’re in a space where you can be understood and supported.

If you are ready to take the next step to making meaningful changes, I encourage you to reach out for a free consultation!
