Great to meet you!

As a licensed counselor since 2002, I have worked with children, adults, couples, and families across a wide range of mental health challenges. I have also supported individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance abuse, stress, relationship issues, family issues, and life transitions. I earned my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1999 and my degree in Criminal Justice from McNeese State University in 1992. Before becoming a licensed counselor, I spent one year in law enforcement and also served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Using my education, life experience, and clinical background, my goal is to provide a supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and equipped to make meaningful progress.

My approach to therapy

When working with clients, I use a strengths-based approach that encourages individuals to build on their personal strengths, resources, and resilience. I believe therapy should meet people where they are while helping them move toward where they want to be in a nonjudgmental, encouraging environment. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, substance abuse, psychosis, relationship issues, family issues, and life transitions, helping them better understand their patterns, build coping skills, and create healthier ways of responding to challenges. My goal is to offer guidance that is practical, supportive, and focused on lasting change.

What you can expect from me

When first meeting with a client, my goal is to begin building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, respect, and understanding. In the first session, we will talk about what brings you to therapy, review your personal history, and begin identifying the concerns that feel most important right now, whether that includes anxiety, depression, stress, substance abuse, psychosis, relationship issues, family issues, or a difficult life transition. I want clients to feel comfortable, listened to, and supported from the beginning. Together, we will begin creating a plan that uses therapeutic tools, personal strengths, and clear goals to support healing and growth.
