Great to meet you!

Welcome, I'm John Windsor - a compassionate and knowledgeable licensed counselor. I received a master's degree from New York University in Mental Health & Wellness Counseling. I treat depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief for teens and adult clients using individual, couples and family therapy. I typically use behavioral treatments (DBT, ACT, CBT) as well as a psychodynamic and nuanced approach by incorporating Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Jungian concepts.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Therapy is a team effort between the client's expertise in their life and the counselor's knowledge of helpful mental health practices to find healing and solutions to life's difficulties. I provide a warm, non-judgemental space to explore what change could be while infusing accountability and encouragement to help the client discover their inner wisdom.

What you can expect from our first session

While the environment is welcoming, warm, and non-judgemental, maintaining goals is important to immediately cultivate. Focusing on learning education around the issue at hand, exploring the concern from the individual's perspective, noticing the emotional undertones, and finding compassionate actions that complement their desired outcome is part of the treatment in most cases. However, while there are generalizations to treatment, every client is an individual and is respected as such.
