Great to meet you!
I feel honored to walk beside my clients in a way that is respectful as I gain an understanding and insight into their history, what happened and what they hope accomplish as a result of the therapeutic process. I believe therapists should do their own work in therapy to truly help others and to prevent burnout in their own lives. I have done that work so I know what it is like to walk in the door and ask for help. I have so much respect for my clients who want to do that deeper work. Life will always challenge us and sometimes we turn to poor coping mechanisms that are harmful and destroy our relationships. I can offer thoughtful alternatives to addictive behaviours. I am a Christian and person of faith in God but work with people of any faith or none. I value and utilise many counseling approaches but often use CBT and DBT as a foundation for skills and tools for my clients. Relational cultural theory (RCT) has been very important in my work as has a 12 step approach for addiction recovery. I truly love what I do and continue to learn and grow with new therapy approaches such as EMDR for clients with complex childhood trauma and PTSD. It’s fast and so very healing to clients who don’t have to spend years in therapy.
